Anne O' Connell (Ireland)

Anne graduated from Dublin, Ireland and worked in UK before receiving her specialty training in Paediatric Dentistry from Eastman Dental Center, USA  and a further degree in Cariology from the University of Rochester, New York, USA. She is Board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and has a US licence. She held academic positions in Eastman Dental Center and at the University of Maryland. She was Director of the Clinical Research Core in  the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, Bethesda, Maryland where she continued clinical and basic science research and was appointed the Acting Clinical Director of  NIDCR, NIH. She returned to Ireland to an academic position in Dublin Dental School  in 2000 where she  established the post-graduate training programme in Paediatric Dentistry and initiated the Trauma clinic within the Dublin Dental University Hospital. Anne has numerous peer-reviewed publications in both basic science and clinical dentistry.  Her areas of interest include cariology, pulp therapy, restorative treatment for children, trauma, infant oral health and developmental defects of the dentition and lectures internationally on these topics.  She serves on numerous national and international scientific committees/organisations including ISDC, IAPD, AAPD, IADR and IADT.  Anne also maintains a private practice limited to Paediatric Dentistry in Sandycove, Co Dublin



The International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) is a non-profit organization founded in 1969, with the objective to contribute to the progress and promotion of oral health for children around the globe.
